ABSTRACT

This presentation aims to empower language teachers by providing them with valuable insights, practical strategies, and a mindset that fosters lifelong learning and supports student achievement.

Recognizing the diverse classrooms teachers navigate, we will discuss strategies for fostering inclusivity and catering to the needs of learners from various backgrounds. By creating inclusive learning environments, language teachers can facilitate student engagement, build empathy, and celebrate the unique contributions of every student.

We will delve into student-centered approaches that promote engagement, individualized instruction, and the cultivation of a positive learning environment. Moreover, effective feedback and assessment strategies will be shared, identifying ways to provide constructive guidance and foster student growth.

BIODATA

Claudia Ourthe-Cabalé ESL/EFL Teacher since 2001 (IH Montevideo- University of London).

She taught at several bilingual and trilingual schools in Uruguay and lived for 5 years in the USA working at an IB World School, teaching in Primary and Secondary School. Claudia currently lives in Montevideo and works at St. Brendan´s School as Elementary School Principal and IBPYP Coordinator.

She has been a member of the IB Educators Network since 2006, where she collaborates in the delivery and creation of professional development workshops (both online and face-to-face) for the IB community.

She is an IB Site Visitor and Consultant and participates at various events locally and internationally as a guest speaker.
